Veterans Day Events 2026

Veterans Day falls on Wednesday, November 11, 2026, and most towns hold their parade either on the day itself or on the Saturday before, November 7. New York City’s parade on Fifth Avenue is billed as the largest Veterans Day parade in the country, with more than 280 marching units and over 20,000 marchers. In Washington, the National Veterans Parade marches Constitution Avenue from the National Archives to the White House on Sunday, November 8, a day after a field show puts 20 high school marching bands on the National Mall.

Many city parades land on Saturday, November 7. Boston’s route runs from the Boston Public Library on Boylston Street to City Hall Plaza, San Antonio’s steps off at Milam Park and follows historic Houston Street, and the Georgia Veterans Day Parade fills Midtown Atlanta. Louisville’s Kentucky Veterans Parade runs along East Market Street in NuLu, with a chance for kids to get close to a real tank. On November 11 itself, San Diego marches along Harbor Drive on the downtown waterfront, and Phoenix, whose parade started in 1997, now heads north on Third Street.

Not every event is a parade. The National WWI Museum and Memorial in Kansas City holds a Veterans Day Weekend with research stations for tracing a family’s service in the Great War, Colonial Williamsburg leads a fife-and-drum procession at Capitol Circle, and in Providence, 150 veterans carrying torches open WaterFire’s Salute to Veterans. Iowa’s state ceremony is held at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery in Adel, on a hilltop above the Raccoon River Valley.

Parade routes close to traffic before step-off, so plan your parking and arrive early for a spot along the curb.
