WaterFire Salute to Veterans

WaterFire's Salute to Veterans is a Full Lighting of Barnaby Evans' award-winning sculpture on the three rivers of downtown Providence, honoring Rhode Island's veterans and active duty military personnel from all service branches. At the lighting ceremony in WaterPlace Park, 150 veterans holding torches process into the WaterPlace Park Basin and create a Ring of Fire during the lighting of the WaterFire braziers, and stationary torchbearer positions are available for veterans who need mobility assistance. The bonfires burn from sunset into the night, with a soundtrack that interacts with the acoustics of the river walkways and the natural sounds of over 80 blazing bonfires, while onshore programming and vendors open in the afternoon.
