Portland leads Oregon’s holiday calendar. ZooLights at the Oregon Zoo opens November 20, and the Grotto’s Christmas Festival of Lights starts after Thanksgiving. The Christmas Ships Parade sails the Willamette and Columbia rivers in December.

Before that, the Portland Book Festival is on November 7. Fall farms around Portland and Salem stay busy until Halloween, and St. Helens, where Halloweentown was filmed, keeps its Spirit of Halloweentown event going to November 1. Silverton and Eugene host holiday markets.
