About this event
Heiser Farms on Grand Island near Dayton began when John and Kristi Heiser moved to a farm in 1991, raising strawberries and melons and growing pumpkins for local markets; they opened the farm to school visitors and weekend outings in October 1994. In 2008 they bought a nearby farm and renovated it for a 2010 grand opening, with a restored barn and a corn dryer building that houses a full commercial kitchen. Families wander a field of bright orange pumpkins to find their own.
Our take: The farm's many buildings provide cover during inclement October weather.
