About this event
Portland's Tree Lighting Ceremony at Pioneer Courthouse Square is the highlight of the holiday season downtown. Thomas Lauderdale of Pink Martini leads a community sing-along with many of the city's finest musicians and chorale singers, building up to the moment Santa flips the switch on nearly 10,000 colorful lights on the City's Tree. The tree then shines over the Square through the holidays.
Our take: Look down at the engraved bricks underfoot; Portlanders bought them in the 1980s to help finish the Square.
