About this event
Destrehan Plantation pairs an evening house tour with the Spirit of Christmas walking tour through the Alley of Oaks. Guests follow the footsteps of people who lived in the house for 128 years and see French customs of a Creole Christmas in traditional finery. The walking tour covers a quarter mile through 5 acres of oak trees, with over 100 lighted frames, 50 Christmas trees, a lighted tunnel, and scenes from The Cajun Night Before Christmas by Trosclair. The plantation is at 13034 River Road in Destrehan.
Our take: Pair the oak-alley light walk with the evening Creole Christmas house tour if you want the history indoors as well as the lights outside.
