About this event
Holly & Ivy is Salisbury House Foundation's annual holiday fundraiser, a design contest in which visitors explore the historic Des Moines house's decked halls and vote for the best decorated room. Live music plays on the estate's one-of-a-kind Steinway D, and there's a pop-up sweet shop, a visit with old Saint Nick and a professional holiday photo op. Salisbury House was built in the 1920s by cosmetics magnate Carl Weeks and his wife Edith, modeled after the King's House in Salisbury, England, and its rooms hold authentic 16th-century English oak woodwork. Proceeds support the nonprofit house museum and community gathering place.
Our take: Book one of the charcuterie, craft cocktail or holiday floral workshops, since each includes a Holly & Ivy ticket.
Parking
General admission $25 in presale, $27 at the door; youth 6–12 $5; children 5 and under free. Workshops $80.
