About this event
The Des Moines Turkey Trot calls itself Iowa's largest Thanksgiving Day tradition, and Runner's World has named it Iowa's Top Trot five years in a row. Runners and walkers in turkey hats start in front of the Des Moines Courthouse, cross the Des Moines River, run through the Historic East Village and circle the State Capitol Complex before heading downhill to the finish; the 5-mile course adds a jaunt to the Botanical Center. A Tot Trot and a virtual option round out the day, and every finisher gets an ornament.
