About this event
Christkindlmarket Des Moines is a German-inspired Christmas market at Principal Park that aims to educate and entertain by sharing the European cultures that established communities in Iowa over 150 years ago. Regional vendors sell hand-crafted wares and European foods from traditional wooden stalls, polka bands, choirs and bell ringers perform in the entertainment area, and kids hear stories, sing songs and try cultural activities at the KinderKorner. Local nonprofits decorate trees for a silent auction, and the market bills itself as kid- and pet-friendly.
Our take: Get your Glühwein, warm mulled wine served in a commemorative keepsake mug, and pair it with bratwurst or candied nuts.
