About this event
The UW Medicine Seattle Marathon & Half Marathon starts at Seattle Center at 5th and Harrison and finishes at Pier 66, and walkers are welcome in either race, with every registrant timed. It began modestly in 1970, when a group of friends from the University of Washington held their own run with fewer than 38 starters, and RaceRaves ranks it the Runner's Choice Best Marathon in Washington State. The Seattle Kids Marathon the day before lets school-age children finish a "full marathon" by covering 25 miles on their own beforehand and the last 1.2 miles at Pier 66.
