About this event
Turkfest brings Turkish culture to the Seattle Center Armory as part of the free Seattle Center Festál series, presented with the Turkish American Cultural Association of Washington. Local Turkish restaurants and cafes, including Berna's Bakery, Koza Café, Sofra Turkish Grill and Yakin Family Kebab, serve dishes such as lahmacun, pide, manti, kebabs and baklava, and there are Turkish tea and coffee corners and a bakery stand. The Armory Stage hosts Turkish musicians and folk dancers, and a kids corner on the balcony offers face painting, games and theater.
Our take: Saturday's Armory Stage has the baklava eating contest at 1:35 p.m. and Şehr-i Seattle, billed as Seattle's first Turkish band, at 4:55 p.m.
