About this event

Home for the Holidays is McKinney Main Street's Thanksgiving weekend tradition in Historic Downtown McKinney. It opens Friday evening with the Community Tree Lighting, when a real Christmas tree, paid for by community donations, lights up in the heart of downtown. Over the weekend, a Ferris wheel turns above the decorated square, live Christmas music and Santa meet-and-greets fill the streets, and life-sized holiday postcards make ready-made photo spots. More than 180 locally owned shops and restaurants stay open for Small Business Saturday.

Our take: Skip the downtown hunt and take the free shuttle from First McKinney Baptist Church near Hwy 75 on Friday or Saturday.

Parking

Festival streets close to traffic; public lots surround the district, and a free shuttle runs from First McKinney Baptist Church, 1615 W. Louisiana St. (no Sunday service).

Good to know

Free admission; select rides and attractions cost extra. Drinks from licensed downtown vendors may be carried within the Cultural District.
