About this event
The Austin Trail of Lights fills Zilker Park with more than 2 million lights, 90 lighted holiday trees and more than 70 other displays and lighted tunnels, drawing hundreds of thousands of visitors from Central Texas and beyond. Hosted by the Trail of Lights Foundation, it grew out of a small 1965 gathering called the "Yule Fest," a gift to the city from Austin Parks and Recreation, and is now the longest-running holiday tradition in Texas' capital and one of Austin's three largest events. Private nights offer free entry to more than 100 nonprofit partners, and thousands of passes go to eligible Austin ISD families.
Our take: Buy a pre-paid parking pass ahead of time or use the drop-off at 2107 Veterans Drive, since close-in Zilker parking is limited each night.
Parking
Close-in Zilker Park parking is sold online in advance only; a shuttle runs from Toney Burger Activity Center (free parking there) on Dec 12 and 18–23.
Good to know
Nightly 7–10pm
