About this event
High Point has hosted this holiday parade since 1925, and it took the name High Point Holiday Festival Parade in 1976. It once ran on Thanksgiving Day, then moved to the evening in the 1980s and for years was the largest nighttime parade in North Carolina, before settling on the Sunday afternoon before Thanksgiving in 2010. Now produced by the Guilford Merchants Association, it draws more than 100 entries, from marching bands and floats to beauty queens, clowns and Santa, along Main Street from Green Drive to Qubein Street.
Our take: Main Street's wide sidewalks give good views anywhere along the route, and the parade lasts about an hour and a half, so there's no need to crowd the start.
Parking
Parking at businesses along the route and downtown parking decks; reserved disabled viewing in front of Sheraton Towers, 400 N Main St
