About this event
Kerstmarkt, Dutch for "Christmas market," brings a Netherlands holiday tradition to Holland, Michigan, in keeping with the city's Dutch heritage. It began in 1997 with 10 booths in Centennial Park, after the Holland Area Convention and Visitors Bureau sent representatives to study European markets and came home with designs for wooden booths that are taken down and rebuilt each season. Today local artisans fill the booths at the 8th Street Market Place in front of the Civic Center, and an all-volunteer nonprofit under the Holland Friends of Art runs the market.
Our take: Visit on a Saturday, when the market shares the space with the Holland Farmers' Market.
