About this event

The Louisiana Shrimp Festival at The Broadside, 600 North Broad Street in New Orleans, works to spread awareness and help save the state's shrimping industry. The day mixes live music, food, children's activities, panel discussions, cooking demos and community action. A shrimp peel-and-eat contest is set for the afternoon. Food vendors include Resurrection Garden, 2 Brothers 1 Love, Divine Cuisine, Greta's Sushi, Nola Sno Ball Express, Waska Nola, Los Crudos and La Vie En Rose.

Our take: Stay for the shrimp peel-and-eat contest in the afternoon, and park in The Broadside lot or on Toulouse and Lafitte rather than the Broad Theater lot.

Parking

Do not park in the Broad Theater lot. The Broadside has a lot, plus street parking on Toulouse and Lafitte, and the Auto Zone lot if closed. A sheriff on duty can escort you to your car. Pets allowed during the day but not after 7 pm; service animals always allowed.

Good to know

12:00 pm-8:00 pm. Doors generally open an hour before.
