About this event

Crescent City Farmers Market began in New Orleans in 1995 as a producer-only market linking shoppers with farmers, fishermen, ranchers, dairies, bakers, and food makers from within 200 miles. Market Umbrella, the nonprofit that has run it since 1995, now holds three weekly markets: Uptown at The Batture on Walnut Street, Mid-City at Lafitte Greenway Plaza, and City Park at the City Putt parking lot. Stalls carry locally grown produce, fresh bread, cut flowers, wild-caught Louisiana seafood, dairy, pasture-raised meat, and handcrafted meals. The market counts more than 70 small producers and more than 150,000 shoppers a year. Buy wooden tokens at the Welcome Tent if you are not paying cash, and leave behind any token designed before 2008, which has been retired.

Our take: Stop at the Welcome Tent for tokens before you shop if you are not carrying cash.

Parking

Cash is preferred in smaller bills. Credit, debit, and Apple Pay buy tokens at the Welcome Tent for a $2 fee; checks payable to Market Umbrella add a $2 fee. EBT tokens cannot buy ready-to-eat food, cut flowers, inedible plants, or alcohol.
