About this event
The Krewe of Tucks began in 1969 as Loyola University students who, after failing to become flambeaux carriers, founded a krewe at Friar Tuck, an Uptown pub. What started as a small nighttime parade of pickup trucks became a daytime parade in 1983, and the route reached downtown in 1986. Tucks is a 2,500-member organization, split evenly between men and women, and it owns its den and all of its floats. The krewe is known for irreverence and for throws it calls the most unique on the route. The only membership requirement is that you want to enjoy yourself and put on a show.
Our take: Go for the daytime roll and watch for the odd throws, because humor is the point of this krewe, not pageantry.
