About this event
The Krewe of Freret started in 2011 with seven Loyola graduates who wanted to keep Mardi Gras going, pull in young professionals, back local industry, and revive the Freret corridor. It rolls on the first Saturday of Mardi Gras along the traditional Uptown parade route in New Orleans, and it bills itself as an inclusive parade. Signature throws are hand-decorated Mardi Gras masks, with a preference for sustainable throws and for local vendors, artists, and entertainers. The krewe has backed local music since the start.
Our take: Stand the traditional Uptown route if you want a shot at a hand-decorated mask, the krewe's signature throw.
