About this event
The Krewe of Bacchus was founded in 1968 by a handful of New Orleans business leaders who wanted to revitalize Carnival, and it has spent more than 50 years as one of the first super krewes. Celebrity kings, massive animatronic floats, and show-stopping themes mix humor, fantasy, and tradition. The krewe now counts more than 1,700 members and 35 animated super-floats. The parade starts at Napoleon and Tchoupitoulas, moves through Uptown and downtown, and ends at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center on the riverfront. In vino veritas is the motto.
Our take: Stake out the start at Napoleon and Tchoupitoulas or a spot before the convention center, because the animatronic super-floats are the thing worth seeing up close.
