About this event
The Holiday Boat Parade and Party at The Wharf sends 60-plus decorated boats along the Washington Channel and keeps the piers and Wharf Street open for spectators. Landside stops include ornament decorating and games in M Street Landing, Santa photos in The Grove, live music and DJs, holiday karaoke, a 45-foot tree on District Pier, s'mores at the Caps Campfire pit, a Joy sign and oversized toy soldiers in District Square, and skating at The Wharf Ice Rink. Fireworks launch from a barge in the channel.
Our take: Garages fill on event days, so ride Metro to Waterfront and walk five minutes, or use the Wharf Shuttle, and stay for the fireworks finale over the channel.
Parking
Three underground garages fill fast. Off-site options include Ace Parking at L'Enfant Plaza, 420 10th St SW; L'Enfant East, 840 D St SW; and the 1100 4th St SW Garage. Metro to Waterfront Station, or L'Enfant Plaza plus the Wharf Shuttle. Chairs and coolers are not permitted.
Good to know
Pets allowed in outdoor spaces; fireworks around 8pm. Alcohol only in licensed restaurant or event areas. No outside alcohol. Restrooms at the Fish Market, Transit Pier, 800 Water Street, the Oculus, and The Terrace.
