About this event
Hillwood, Marjorie Merriweather Post's estate in Washington, decks its rooms for A Woven Wonderland, with Christmas trees inspired by pieces in the exhibition Interwoven: A Tradition of Textiles. The mansion entry hall tree takes its cue from a 126-inch lace flounce, using white baby's breath and lace; the French drawing room tree echoes an embroidered wall hanging that once hung outside Post's bedroom; and the dining room tree recreates the draped back of a 1930s Bergdorf Goodman evening dress. Workshops and holiday shopping round out the season.
Our take: Book a holiday wreath-making workshop in the Dina Merrill Pavilion to take a piece of the season home.
Good to know
