About this event
Christmas Illuminations at Mount Vernon lights up George and Martha Washington's estate with holiday fireworks over the Potomac River. Visitors can shop a winter market of goods handmade by colonial artisans and chat with people from Washington's world about 18th-century holiday traditions. The estate, about 15 miles south of Washington, D.C., has been owned and maintained by the Mount Vernon Ladies' Association since it acquired the property from the Washington family in 1858.
