About this event
Celebration of Lights is the Celebrate Great Falls Foundation's free community Christmas tree lighting on the Great Falls Village Field, behind the post office in Great Falls, Virginia. Families can enjoy hot cocoa and cookies while local school musical groups perform, and visit the petting zoo and pony rides before Santa and Mrs. Claus arrive by fire truck to light the tree. Children can then share their holiday wishes with Santa, and the event closes with a Live Nativity. The nonprofit foundation, established in 2010, sponsors local traditions and community events to preserve the village's small town spirit.
Our take: Pony rides and the petting zoo run only from 4 to 5:45 p.m., closing when the Live Nativity starts, so arrive early for those.
