About this event

The Virginia Thanksgiving Festival at Berkeley Plantation commemorates the 1619 landing of the Good Ship Margaret at Berkeley Hundred, where 36 men observed the first English Thanksgiving in the New World. The day opens with a parade led by the Williamsburg Pipes and Drums, followed by colonial games, crafts, a petting zoo, hands-on demonstrations and live entertainment from the Chickahominy Tribal Dancers, the Colonial Singers of Williamsburg and others. A re-enactment of the landing takes place in the afternoon, and the day ends with the Chickahominy Tribal Dancers leading the traditional Friendship Dance. Berkeley Plantation sits halfway between Williamsburg and Richmond off Route 5.

Our take: Try Brock's Bar-B-Que's Thanksgiving Dinner in a Glass, or grab a smoked turkey leg and Brunswick stew.
