About this event
Blue Highway Fest started in 2022 in Bullitt Park in downtown Big Stone Gap, in a part of Virginia that has suffered greatly from the loss of coal mining jobs; one of its goals is to bring vitality back to the region. The festival features the band Blue Highway along with many other bluegrass artists, a Rising Stars Challenge, and RV and tent camping sections just outside the performance area. Thursday shows are on the 3rd Street Stage downtown next to the Visitor's Center.
Our take: There's no parking inside Bullitt Park, so use the shuttle from Mountain Empire Community College or the Food City lot on Wood Ave. E.
Parking
Public lots and street parking downtown, first come, first served. Shuttles run from Mountain Empire Community College (3441 Mountain Empire Road) and the Food City lot (603 Wood Ave. E). Handicap drop-off at the East Gate of Bullitt Park.
Good to know
Clear bags only, no larger than 12 x 12 x 6 inches. No outside food or drink except one factory-sealed water bottle. No pets except service animals, no umbrellas and no tents or canopies. Cash and cards accepted at the gate.
