A Christmas Carol (Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park)

Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park stages Charles Dickens' classic in Moe and Jack's Place – The Rouse Theatre, its new mainstage, in an adaptation by Blake Robison. Ebenezer Scrooge, a greedy curmudgeon, is visited by three spirits and the ghost of a long-lost friend across one Christmas Eve night, recalling past kindness, meeting Tiny Tim and the Cratchit family, and glimpsing a terrifying future. Dazzling set, costume and lighting designs carry the story, which runs about 1 hour and 45 minutes with a 20-minute intermission.

Our take: It suits children 5 and older, but warn younger ones that a couple of the ghostly appearances can be a little scary.
