About this event

The Germania Society, founded by German immigrants in 1964, started Cincinnati's first Christkindlmarkt in 1999, and it is still the city's largest. Modeled on the Christmas markets of Germany, it spreads through the covered pavilion and heated tents at Germania Park, with more booths outside in the "Winterwald." Shoppers browse imported steins, cuckoo clocks, nutcrackers, glass ornaments, Schwibbogen candle arches and candle-powered pyramids alongside work by local artisans, with Glühwein or German bier in hand. Mock turtle soup, wursts and pastries round out the menu. Sunday is Family Day, when Santa, the Christkind and St. Nikolaus visit, with pony rides, a petting zoo and a lantern parade.

Our take: Families should aim for Sunday: Family Day brings the lantern parade and pony rides, and on-site parking replaces the shuttle that day.

Parking

On-site parking is limited; on Friday and Saturday use the shuttle from Mueller Roofing, 11865 Hamilton Ave. No parking along Kemper Road.
