About this event
Portsmouth's Illuminated Holiday Parade is an annual favorite for people across the Seacoast. The evening begins in Market Square, where the Mayor and City Council host the Tree Lighting Ceremony. The lighted parade then kicks off from Goodwin Park and marches down Islington Street, arriving in Market Square roughly 20 to 30 minutes later, so the celebration starts and ends in the heart of downtown. The City of Portsmouth organizes the evening and invites community groups to register entries for the procession.
Our take: Watch the tree lighting in Market Square and then stay put, since the parade finishes there about half an hour after leaving Goodwin Park.
