About this event

Lexington Barbecue Festival fills Uptown Lexington along Main Street and the side streets from 5th Avenue to 4th Street with one style of pork: Lexington-style barbecue. Organizers do not host a cook-off and do not serve other styles. The chopped pork is the star, sold from tents at West Center Street, North Main Street, and South Main at 3rd Avenue, and those tents can sell out. Outdoor stages lead to a finale concert at the Breeden Insurance Amphitheater on East 3rd Avenue. A pig-themed sand sculpture stands near one restroom cluster.

Our take: Ride the shuttle from Childress Vineyards and get off at 5th Avenue and South Main instead of circling side streets.

Parking

Private lots around the uptown perimeter, most run by community groups. Do not park on side streets or alleys; illegal cars will be towed. Handicap lot on State Street between 2nd and 3rd, with restrooms. Parking and shuttles from Childress Vineyards; drop-off at 5th Avenue and South Main. No pets except certified service animals; no coolers, outside alcohol, bicycles, skateboards, scooters, or roller blades.

Good to know

Rain or shine. Barbecue tents can sell out.
