About this event
Christmas & Holiday Traditions at Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park honors holiday customs from around the world with more than 40 decorated evergreens and cultural displays that blend fact and folklore, set among winter plantings. A highlight is the Railway Garden, which debuted in 2004 alongside the film of The Polar Express by Grand Rapids' own Chris Van Allsburg. It features scenes from the story and 15 buildings modeled on local landmarks, plus buildings representing Grand Rapids' sister cities.
Our take: Visit on a Tuesday to catch the weekly cultural performances, or on a Saturday afternoon when Santa is in the Michigan's Farm Garden Barn.
