About this event

The Detroit Urban Craft Fair bills itself as Michigan's oldest and largest indie craft fair, a two-day spectacular inside Detroit's legendary and historic Masonic Temple. Founded in 2005 by Bethany Nixon of ReWare Vintage, Carey Gustafson of Glass Action and their collective Handmade Detroit, it now gathers more than 100 indie makers and artists and draws about 7,000 shoppers. Most vendors come from Detroit and across Michigan, with a select number of crafters from other states, and every artist works their own booth. Expect handmade soaps, screen-printed shirts, art prints, jewelry and artisan foods, often with a modern spin on traditional methods. Midtown shop City Bird, part of the fair since the first one, now carries the tradition forward.

Our take: Park near Canfield Street, browse City Bird and the North Cass Corridor shops, then ride the free shuttle over to the Masonic.

Parking

Paid lots and metered street parking near the Masonic (meters free on Sundays); QLine access; free shuttle from the City Bird storefront on Canfield Street.
