About this event

The Franklin Park Turkey Trot is billed as the largest Thanksgiving Day race in the City of Boston, drawing runners and walkers mainly from Roxbury, Dorchester, Jamaica Plain, and Mattapan, with out-of-town family welcome. The course is a loop around the golf course, with start and finish near the Franklin Park Golf Clubhouse at One Circuit Drive. All ages and paces are welcome, walking groups gather at the end of the pack, and awards cover fast finishers, costumes, the fastest dog, and the fastest stroller. The clubhouse bathrooms have only a few stalls, with portable toilets in the parking area.

Our take: Enter off Blue Hill Avenue or Arborway at Morton Street, not the maintenance yard off Canterbury Street, and allow time for race-day number pickup at the clubhouse before the start.

Parking

Parking at the golf clubhouse, along Circuit Drive, in the lot across the street, and in the circle toward Blue Hill Ave. More parking 0.3 miles down Circuit Drive and by the zoo rear entrance. Strollers, wheelchairs, and race-ready leashed dogs welcome. No bag check. Paths may be slippery or uneven.

Good to know

Race starts 9:00 a.m.; race-day number pickup from 7:30 a.m. at the golf clubhouse.
