About this event
The Garvin Gate Blues Festival is a free arts and music event at the corner of Garvin Place and Oak Street in historic Old Louisville, about a mile south of downtown. It began in 1988 as a blues jam in the parking lot of the Rudyard Kipling and is now billed as the largest free neighborhood street music festival in Louisville. National and local blues bands play continuously, and food and drink vendors line the festival, which draws a multiracial, intergenerational audience.
Our take: Take TARC: several bus routes serve the festival area, and every bus is wheelchair accessible with bike racks.
