About this event
The Bank of America Chicago Marathon takes runners 26.2 miles through 29 of Chicago's neighborhoods, starting and finishing in Grant Park. Race weekend also brings the Abbott Health & Fitness Expo and the Abbott Chicago 5K. Along the course, Cheer Zones include the Shamrock Shuffle Cheer Zone in Lincoln Park at the 8K mark, the Chicago 13.1 celebration of the West Side at halfway, and Bank of America zones on N. Wacker at Mile 13 and near Michigan Avenue and Roosevelt Road at Mile 26. Runners finish into the 27th Mile Post-Race Party in Grant Park.
Our take: Spectators can't enter the Grant Park start and finish areas, so ride the CTA to spots along the course and meet your runner at the Runner Reunite area, which opens to spectators at 9:30 a.m.

Organizers suggest spectators use the CTA rail system to move around the course.

Wave starts from 7:35 a.m. The 27th Mile Post-Race Party and Runner Reunite area open to spectators 9:30 a.m.–4 p.m. The free race app offers live runner tracking.
