About this event

Dead Man's Run is Historic Congressional Cemetery's fall 5K, a flat, USATF-certified course that starts and finishes inside the cemetery and goes out-and-back on the Anacostia Trail. Costumes are encouraged, with prizes for best individual and best team looks, plus awards for top finishers, age groups, and best team time. The cemetery, founded in 1807, is a 35-acre National Historic Landmark and active burial ground at 1801 E Street SE, with more than 70,000 interments. Water is at the start and about halfway, and a children's race runs before the 5K. Dogs and strollers are allowed if they start at the back; retractable leashes are not. The race is rain or shine, with no rain date.

Our take: Pick up your bib on Friday if you can, then line up for the 5:00 pm start inside the cemetery and use the halfway water stop on the Anacostia out-and-back.
