About this event
Santa arrives in Mystic by tugboat, specifically Cross Sound Ferry's John Paul, coming into Mystic River Park from the North Pole on Shop Small Saturday. An artisan market sets up on Cottrell Street, which stays closed for the day. After Santa, the park Christmas tree is lit, and the lighted boat parade follows down the Mystic River, with spectators on both banks. Carolers and photo time with Santa are part of the arrival.
Our take: See Santa at the park in the afternoon, then stay for the tree lighting so you are in place when the boats start down the river.
Parking
Gravel Street closes for viewing; stay on the pavement and off grass and docks. The park dock is limited. Lots include Seaport Marine, Mystic Parking LLC at 1 Pearl St, and Union Baptist Church. Keep paddleboards, kayaks, and jet skis home.
