About this event

The Vermont Children's Trust Foundation's Polar Express Train Ride brings the holiday story to life on the Burlington waterfront. Families gather in the Wing Building lobby at the bottom of King Street, pajamas encouraged, then board for a ride of about 20 minutes to the 'North Pole' at Union Station, with hot cocoa and cookies served by chefs and a carol sing-along led by conductors. At Union Station, children pass through a sea of elves, hear the story read aloud as the book's artwork fills a big screen, and receive a bell from Santa's sleigh. All proceeds benefit the foundation.

Our take: After the ride, walk back to your car along Battery Street so you don't cross paths with the next train's passengers.

Good to know

Each trip takes about 1 hour 15 minutes, including 15 minutes of boarding. Tickets $40 per person, limit five per order; children under 2 on a lap ride free.
