About this event
Oktoberfest of Richmond, Inc. calls this the only authentic German Oktoberfest in Central Virginia, held at the Old Dominion Building at the Richmond Raceway Complex, 600 East Laburnum Avenue. A German party band plays for dancing, and Bavarian dancers perform. Warsteiner, Paulaner, and Bitburger cover the German beer list, including Marzens and a non-alcoholic option, with German wine beside them. Sausages are hand-crafted by Usinger's of Wisconsin, with roast pork, chicken, sauerkraut, and potato pancakes, and Reinecker's Bakery of Macedonia, Ohio, brings the tortes. A beer-stein hoisting contest and a Kinder Korner round out the floor.
Our take: Leave room for the snack bar, because the organizers single out German potato pancakes and Usinger's sausages.
