About this event
The Allianz Richmond Marathon, organized by the nonprofit Sports Backers and billed as America's Friendliest Marathon, pairs the full marathon with the CarMax Richmond Half Marathon and the Capital One Richmond 8K. The marathon course runs through scenic and historic sections of Richmond, along and across the James River, features some rolling hills, and is USA Track & Field certified and a top Boston Qualifier. Runners pass live bands, DJs, spirit groups and party zones before a renowned downhill finish and a post-race party on the riverfront. All three races sold out in 2025 with a record number of participants, and capacity remains limited.
Our take: Marathon and half finishers get Papa Johns pizza and a Hardywood beer on the house at the post-race party on Brown's Island.
