About this event
Galveston Historical Foundation presents Dickens on The Strand, a festival based on 19th-century Victorian London and held the first weekend in December. Parades, four stages of entertainment, and roaming characters run through the grounds, along with Tiny Tim's Play Land and Shopkeeper Skills Village. Costumed vendors work street stalls and rolling carts of holiday food and drink, Victorian-inspired crafts, clothing, jewelry, decorations, and gifts. A short story contest, kids' activities, and Victorian Bed Races are also on the program.
Our take: Leave pets and ice chests at home; both are barred, and costume props can mean an extra screening at the gate.
Parking
Pets and ice chests are not allowed. Scooters, skateboards, rollerblades, skates, Segways, and other recreational wheels are forbidden. Costume weapons and props must be secured and may require additional screening.
