About this event
Knoxville's Celebration of Lights centers on the lighting of the 42-foot Mickey Mallonee Christmas in the City Tree in Krutch Park Extension, with the party spilling onto Market Square and Market Street. The Warman Trio, a local 1950s family band, plays holiday hits before and after the switch. Market Street businesses host kids' crafts, a Little Elves Workshop invites children to make cards for local veterans, and a miniature train is on display. Food trucks set up, and the night is also opening day for Holidays on Ice if you want to skate after the lights.
Our take: Park in a city garage before Gay Street closes so you can hear The Warman Trio before the tree lighting.
Parking
Parking in city-owned garages. Gay Street closes at 4:30pm for the event; come early.
Good to know
Live music at 5:15pm, tree lighting at 6pm, then Warman Trio sets on the Market Square Stage. Food trucks on site.
