About this event
GermanFest Knoxville brings a German-style Christkindlmarkt to the campus of First Lutheran Church and School on North Broadway, borrowing a tradition that dates to the Late Middle Ages in the German-speaking part of Europe. Shoppers stroll a craft village of handmade jewelry, hand-knit wearables, pottery, artwork and embroidery, then cozy up by the Feuerstelle fire pits with a craft brew, Glühwein or hot chocolate, plus roasted nuts and savory pretzels. The market runs alongside the Old North Knoxville Victorian Holiday Home Tour, and GermanFest's proceeds support First Lutheran School, which has served Knoxville since 1869.
Our take: Go Saturday evening, when the lights and fire pits make the best setting for a mug of Glühwein.
