About this event
Highmark Light Up Night is downtown Pittsburgh's kickoff to the holiday season, and the 2026 celebration is part of a larger 65th anniversary. The evening combines long-standing traditions with new holiday experiences and ends with a supersized fireworks finale. Past celebrations have featured tree lightings across downtown, including the City-County Building tree and the Highmark Christmas Tree, music on pop-up stages, Zambelli rooftop fireworks and the Peoples Gas Holiday Market, with vendors in wooden chalets inspired by German Christkindlmarkts.
Our take: Check Visit Pittsburgh's Light Up Night page for the 2026 schedule before you go, then pick a spot near the tree lighting or stage you care about most.
