About this event

At Times Square New Year's Eve, the crystal Ball begins its descent from atop One Times Square at 11:59 p.m. as crowds count down the final seconds of the year. The current Constellation Ball measures 12.5 feet across, weighs 12,350 pounds and is covered in 5,280 crystals and LED light pucks. Revelers have gathered here since 1904, and the first Ball, built of iron and wood with one hundred 25-watt bulbs, made its maiden descent from the flagpole in 1907.

Our take: Add a wish to the Wishing Wall, in person or online; the wishes are printed on the confetti that rains down at midnight.
