About this event
Wellfleet OysterFest started in 2001 and is billed as one of the most popular events on Cape Cod. The two-day party takes over Main Street with the art, seafood and community that define life in Wellfleet, and upwards of 20,000 people gather downtown to celebrate world-famous oysters. Local food, beer and wine gardens, live music and arts and crafts vendors share the street with Fleet-raised shellfish served by the men and women who harvest them. Culinary demonstrations, educational lectures, a road race and a Family Fun area with crafting, games and a bounce house fill out the weekend. The Wellfleet Oyster Shuck-Off is billed as the biggest oyster shucking competition in America.
Our take: Eat oysters from the harvesters on the raw bars, and stay for the Shuck-Off if you want the weekend's main contest.
