Southern Lights Holiday Festival at Kentucky Horse Park

Southern Lights, presented by Friends of Coal, is a drive-through holiday tradition at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington, where families from across the Bluegrass tour more than a million twinkling lights from their cars. Along the way, the Holiday Village invites everyone out to stretch their legs, with photos with Santa, Animal Land, model trains and more. It is a long-running Lexington favorite and an easy outing for groups of mixed ages.

Our take: Arrive in the afternoon: the Horse Park's winter season still offers Stall-Side Chats and the International Museum of the Horse before the lights come on.
