About this event

The Maple Leaf Festival began in 1958, inspired by Baker University biology professor Dr. Ivan Boyd. Boyd chose the third weekend in October as the best time to see local maple color and mark a successful harvest. It is billed as the biggest fall family event in the area, with over 300 craft exhibits, quilt shows, performing arts, music, unique food and activities. Handmade booths line 8th and High and fill the fire house, and shops add event-only merchandise. The weekend adds a Saturday parade with marching bands, floats and antique cars, a kids' zone, country music, a 5K and a quilt show at Baldwin Intermediate Center on Highway 56.

Our take: Be in town before the 11 a.m. Saturday parade, then walk the craft booths on 8th and High and save the quilt show at Baldwin Intermediate Center for later.

Parking

Animals are not allowed under Baldwin City Ordinance #1196, except certified service animals with documentation. Violators can be fined.

Good to know

Saturday's parade begins at 11:00 am. Sunday adds more events, crafts and the quilt show.
