About this event
Christmas at the Zoo walks the Indianapolis Zoo after dark past scampering red pandas, playful penguins, a whiskered walrus, and an arctic fox, with hot cocoa along the paths. Santa, Mrs. Claus, and the elves meet visitors in Santa's Magic Cottage, where kids can look for the magic key to the North Pole. Festive Favorites cover sweet and savory bites and seasonal cocktails. Old holiday lights can be dropped in bins at the Visitor's Services Center for recycling by Technology Recyclers. The zoo is at 1200 W. Washington Street.
Our take: Start with the red pandas and penguins over a hot cocoa, then reach Santa's Magic Cottage before its line closes an hour ahead of closing.
Good to know
Festivities begin daily at 5 p.m. Santa line closes one hour before closing. Closed Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas, New Year's Eve, and New Year's Day. Sensory-friendly evenings Dec. 2 and Dec. 16 from 5 p.m.
