About this event
The Jekyll Island Authority presents the Shrimp & Grits Festival in the Historic District, a coastal favorite built around the classic southern dish. Family-friendly entertainment, an artists market, live music, and food fill more than 30 acres of the National Historic Landmark District. Plates of shrimp and grits share the grounds with food trucks, and stages are spread through the festival. Southeast vendors bring pottery, glass, textiles, woodworking, and jewelry. A Friday fireworks show caps the night.
Our take: If you are staying on the island, take a hotel shuttle to the entrance and stay for the Friday fireworks.
Parking
Accessible parking is at the Georgia Sea Turtle Center with a government-issued placard or plate. No pets except service animals. No outside food or drink. Folding chairs are welcome; small soft coolers that fit on a shoulder are allowed, but large coolers and wagons that cannot be carried on the bus are not.
Good to know
Rain or shine. Fireworks Friday around 7:15 p.m. On-island hotels offer shuttles to the entrance.
